The Company is a franchise of the oldest and largest shipping company in the world. This business began at its present location in 2003; it has steadily been profitable since that time.The business is driven by brand recognition and supported by national advertising. The store provides package and shipping via UPS. It also offers color copying, black and white copying, fax services, passport photographs, and private mailbox rental and many other unique services.
UPS is the industry leader. While FedEx and DHL also achieve success with shipping, they have not established a strong retail base, as UPS has. The UPS Store has 3 main competitors in the area including a Fedex/Kinko's. While they also carry a brand name and are more experienced at document services, they lack the expertise in packing and shipping. They also do not provide the same level of customer service. The other two competitors are independent shipping stores that are much smaller and higher priced, and therefore less appealing to consumers.
