However, Highway 84 also connects Laurel to Natchez, about 180 miles away. Hurricane season often brings precautionary evacuees from the Gulf Coast needing overnight accommodations (about a 2 hours drive). With its oak-lined streets to its lovely turn of the century homes, Laurel is a charming & gracious southern town. Great place to call home!
