Description of the business for sale
This is not your father's feed store! This beautiful, massive facility in the heart of Collin County is not the run-down tin building next to the railroad tracks most people think of when they hear the term feed store. This is a three-year-old stout, modern store/warehouse facility with a great country feel to it.
The progressive concept for this type of feed store was developed by a major feed manufacturer in an effort to keep the traditional feed store customer who owns horses, livestock and/or works his own property, while creating an element that appeals to the suburban homeowner. They do this in two primary ways. First by locating the stores in thriving rural-politan areas areas that have traditionally been farmland but are now being built-out with new neighborhoods. The people moving into these areas are families who like a taste of country living while still having a suburban feel to their communities. The second is by the design and quality of the store. It's the type of place a 25-49 year-old woman would love to come in and shop for pet supplies, gifts or home accessories.
The horse supply category is still the largest revenue-generator for the store, but pet supplies have been growing steadily and fall second. Behind that, outside sales, including hay, are large, with other farm supplies, outdoor and wildlife sales following that.
