The company manufactures, modifies and repairs wheels in the automotive industry. This is one out of approximately five companies in the country that performs this task. Furthermore, this is one of only two companies in the U.S. that focuses on small quantity builds (1 - 10 pieces).
The company has been established for 10 years, and has an excellent reputation. Their share of the national wheel market is approximately 8%. The primary sources of business are threefold: Referrals from competitors who elect not to perform small builds, Wholesale Vendors who require modifications to standard wheel designs, and individuals. The largest opportunity for growth resides with the Wholesale Vendors. Currently, this company is accepting a small fraction of the business from this category, due to capacity issues. Past plans for expansion were sidelined due to lack of capital and a substantial debt load. Due to the owner's age and physical ailments, he is unwilling to pursue expansion plans at a later date.
The ideal candidate would be a person with some experience in the Machining Industry, and with the capital to expand the business (machinery and personnel) modestly to accept the small-to-medium sized runs from the Wholesale Vendors (10 - 100 pcs). As mentioned earlier, this opportunity for growth already exists amongst associated Wholesale Vendors (no additional Marketing or Advertising required); capacity is the only ingredient missing. The current owner is very flexible regarding the terms for training the new owner. The training will be done at no charge for a reasonable period of time, predicated on the final terms and total consideration.
