SUMMARY: This Company manufactures antique lumber products. The business was started in 1996 in a garage, refurbishing antique woods for family and friends. The business grew, moved twice to larger facilities and was incorporated in 2001. The Owner prefers to sell to a Buyer capable of taking the business to the next level.
PRODUCTS: The Company’s products, made from aged beams, rafters and planks reclaimed from early American warehouses, houses and barns, include: refurbished, hand hewn timbers; antique flooring; aged trusses; antique wall & ceiling materials; and other antique wood building materials that offer customers many cosmetic, historic, functional, and environmental benefits. The company’s products are used in residential and commercial building projects, renovations, and restorations.
CUSTOMERS: The Company’s revenue distribution is as follows: general contractors - 70%, home owners - 15%, and wholesale - 15%.
RAW MATERIALS: Raw materials inventory is derived from deconstruction projects throughout the US, promising an ongoing supply of old growth woods, including: heart pine (“longleaf” pine), oak, white pine, cypress, chestnut, fir, maple, etc. that were cut at least 100 years ago.
MARKET: Demand for the company’s products (old growth lumber products, naturally seasoned with characteristics of tight grain, nail holes, beetle tracks, hand hewn markings, etc) is growing rapidly.
PERSONNEL: The Company employs a non-union work force of 26 full-time (including the owner) and no part-time employees. This includes three office, three mill management and 20 mill laborers.
OBJECTIVE: The owner nearly doubled output capacity in early 2006 by tripling the dust handling system and adding a planer, molder, mill and two saws. He seeks a buyer with skills complementary to his, willing to take leadership of the Company and focused on growing the business to the next level. The Owner will subsequently train his replacement and retire.
